I am surprised there is no accounting of running over something off the coast of Sardinia and getting the sonar Dome ripped off. We were towed into Naples and put into a Italian Dry dock which after a few days started to sink on one side. I was awakened in the middle of the night and told to abandon ship. We were fed Scotch and eggs by the Italians until the other side of the drydock was submerged to even things and we were ordered to reman the ship. I can still remember being shuttled back to the ship in a rowboat. That same day A new captain assumed command and we went from dungaree Navy to Marching and Uniform of the day which we were not happy with.I'm looking for minesweep patches and ship's patches I still have my detector belt buckle

It was my first command and the one I remember the most. It was the crew that made the ship, couldn't have asked for more dedicated personnel! My Officers were green, but the crew was outstanding, including the reserves, all of whom were true professionals.

Greetings! I really enjoy the DETECTOR'S homepage. Yes, I remember the Northern Europe/MED cruise of 1970. (Does anyone remember stopping in Boston, MASS., to reverse the MAGTAIL cause someone reloaded it backwards after the yard period?) Also remember being escorted by an AKA to Bermuda. DOMREP--what can I say? I remember that we spent 3 months in the Carribean while the other ships spent another 3. I appreciate what has been done by the Webmaster. I wish him and his fair winds and following seas! BRAVO ZULU! I got out in Dec '71 and joined the Naval Reserve SeaBees in Jan '79, retired June '90, and looking forward to retirement from my civilian job next year! Also, looking for info, (e-mail addresses), on Armand, "Duffy", Dufresne and Steve Riddles and Bob Emerich. Thanks. May the good LORD take a likin' to ya!
