I am now retired and am looking for genealogy for my husband an Adkins from the Sandy Hook area. His father died young and had moved to Ca at the end of WWII so family information is limited. My husband was the youngest of several children and never had any exposure to Adkins relatives of his father. I am active on Ancestry.com and it appears Elliot and Pike counties are where his family was center. Any hints would be appreciated. Most likely his grandfather was Harve or Horne Adkins possible son of Wyatt Adkins, |

I had found at one time about the Snively(unsure of spelling) Church in Pike County. Henry Etter was listed in the article. Henry Etter is my great grandfather. I wanted to add the information in a book I am making for our family reunion. Would you tell me where I can find the information of the church |

My grandmother was born in Catlettsburg, my great grandmother is buried in Pike County. The Varneys, as you no doubt know herald from the region as well. My mother and I hope to return to Pike and Floyd counties this spring to dig up (well, not literally!) our ancestors and glean whatever information we can gather for ourselves and our posterity. We have a few mysteries and we hope to find answers in your myriad of cemeteries. Perhaps you can be of assistance! Thanks! Ginny E |

In particular I am trying to discover information regarding Lewis Hunt. Lewis was married to Minnie \"Pricy\" Allen in 1910 Lewis (age 27) and Pricy (23) were living next door to Thomas Jackson and his wife Jane in Peter Creek Precinct #7 in Dwelling 254. Lewis was listed on the Census as owning the home. They later moved to the South Williamson and then Matewan areas of WV. Lewis and Pricy had the following children: Carolyn (Callie) Hunt Friend, Nellie Jane, Lewis Emory, Arthur, Fannie, Harman, Hattie and Charles. Lewis also had a daughter named Ida Laura Hunt who was born of Lewis Hunt’s first marriage to Laura Cooke who died in childbirth at the age of 18 in 1901. Lewis died in 1958. I\'m looking for any information regarding Lewis\' parents or siblings. |
