New Inventive competition

Comments

Does anyone have information about the West of Britain Inventive comp. to be held at Bedworthon 17 February 2019. Just two sections - Modern and Classical. The venue appears very small, and I wonder about parking facilities!,

I do hope you can assist or your members.

I didn\'t wish to \'invade\' forum as it would be off subject.

Although I do have experience in sequence dancing and ballroom, my wife and I danced regularly several times a week at various locations in and around the Midlands until we had a serious car accident in 2003, so now we\'re unable to enjoy dancing, much to our regret.

Moving on and cutting to the chase.

I am presently writing a novel with some characters who progress from attending dancing social evenings to then becoming teachers themselves (a married couple )

My knowledge whether the couple required to attend separate classes from their normal social evening or go to Blackpool or Bournemouth and are trained to become instructors or teachers.

I remember from a gentleman in his Nineties ( a very fit gent) who was a former teacher who went away in his teaching days, at least once a year to learn new scripts and chosen dances for that season. This was 1990\'s in Leicester clubs we met this gentleman. In our discussions he did mention going to Bournemouth for a weeks instruction ??

Novel is set in early 1970\'s amidst the Miners strikes based around the Midlands. So basically I am after if the couple require to have a certificate in Sequence dancing, or go somewhere to be more proficient in dancing skills and to learn that years script. What Sequence Dance were ongoing popular and new in 1973/4/5, especially Midlands ( Nottingham area) I know from our dancing years whats hot to trot in Yorkshire receives blank looks in the south.

Sorry to impose on you but if your unable to provide any details but point me in the right direction I would be very grateful. I like to make sure I include details are as accurate as possible in my writing. This is not a major part of the story-line but I want to get the details right.

Best Regards, again thank you for your assistance

We will be in the Torquay area from 2nd September and wonder if there are any Sequence Tea Dances that week. At one time I could go online and find masses of clubs in holiday areas but, sadly, this is no longer the case. It is really interesting meeting dancers from different parts of the UK.

have taught Britannia Tango for the last two weeks and our people are really enjoying it. It is nice to have part in ballroom hold and the second part in
ever changing hold. All our people coped well with this one yes the 50 year olds and the 80 year olds

I shall be in Southport on Wednesday evening 15th August and I am wondering if there is any Sequence Dancing in the area. Knowing the situation re dancing these days I will be surprised if there is!!!

In answer to the last question, it is fun to enter Inventives, provided you don\'t expect to win!!!

If you are changing the script the dance is not any good to your clients so why teach it in the first place You could just demonstrate it and leave it at that then you have done your job

Supposing you are a teacher, after you taught this new quickstep, half of your members liked it, other half didn\'t (....even suggested easy way of hop, step. )
Would you drop it straight away or, try few more weeks then decide (to drop it), or keep it, one each Emerald and Hoabie (for example). What would you do to make your members happy?

Really enjoyed dancing both the B.N. and the quickstep (brings back memories of hopscotch in the school playground) two cracking dances. I can\'t wait to see this couples entries in the remaining competitions of the year!
With a bit of luck other associations will decide to have surprise fun-dance sections.
