THE NAME OF JESUS
The name of Jesus is so great because of everything it means and represents.
The name was given by an Angel as a specially chosen name to Mary and Joseph. The name in Aramaic was Yashua for that was the language they spoke, we know him as Jesus for it is a translation of that name into English. The name has a meaning and it is Yah is Salvation. And that name was given to him because he came to save us from our sins.
Jesus life was extraordinary, there are four canonized gospels that tell us his story. And his name quickly spread after his death to the whole known world.
The name of Jesus is to be spread abroad. The mandate is to spread his name to all the corners of the world. The book of acts records the beginning of this mission, the accounts in this book record the spreading of his name everywhere.
The name of Jesus brought persecution to the Apostles and believers; Saul of Tarsus was one of the most zealous persecutors of those who called upon the name of Jesus, but then he encountered Jesus and begun to suffer great things for the name of Jesus.
The disciples preached in the name of Jesus, did great miracles in the name of Jesus, suffered in the name of Jesus and baptized in the name of Jesus.
