Years ago, when Rock Hudson became gravely ill, I read a story how Mr. McD was inconsolable. Concerned, but with no idea of how to reach out to Mr. McD, I wrote Joan Rivers who at the time was a guest host for Carson. She frequently commented how she and Mr. McD were great friends. I sent her a card asking her to pass along my thoughts. I also added that I understood if she felt I was out of line. Two weeks later, I received a pink envelope with "Joan Rivers" on the return address. The handwritten note said that not only was I not out of line, but that she thought it was a kind gesture. She even passed along my concerns. Well,if my Sunday school was right, then at 1:17 this afternoon, Mr. McD was waiting in heaven with a glass of wine to welcome his good buddy. I'm sure the laughter continues.... Rest In Peace, Joanie
