today I visited Ariola's on allen Blvd in Farmingdale LI, Peter was behind the counter. It brought back a lot of memories from past.
We chattered a while. he looks good for 74. The shop had a nice array of pasteries, and naturally we bought some for home.
How can u go there without bringing home some of there pastries,,they still make the best canoli cream, had one of there canollis this week, and the best friadelle,,wrong spelling...
Yes Phyllis, that is what I meant,I said it was the wrong spelling..they are the best, nice and crispy,I tried to make them once from a recipe that Ihad, but they did not come good enough to serve to company, but I ate them....I do not remember your fathers store there,,maybe my Mom went elsewhere,sorry...take care
Yes................sfogliatelle are hard to make, I know first hand...........my friend's father owned Pellegrino's Pastry Shop on enyork avenue..........and
it took a lot of time and effort.............easier to buy at or have ariola's ship them to you.......they have a great web site. For those of you in Howard Beach or on Long Island, Farmingdale is not too far to travel, it's worth the trip..........
Great bringing back memories...............
Hello...............just enter ariola's bakery on the internet and it will bring it up...............they are in farmingdale, long island and peter ariola is the youngest son...............you'll see a picture of him with his son, peter jr.
my father had the fruit and vegetable store on rockaway avenue off of fulton street.............
they was a candy store on the corner, then harry's a tv repair shop and then my father's store...........a small coffee shop with donuts and then ariola's............we were good friends.............
