Our Lady of Loreto makes headlines.
After many weeks corresponding with Peter Duffy, a reporter for the New York Times, we were able to tell our story concerning the future of our beloved church.
Peter Duffy contacted me several months asking me if I wanted to have him write a story about Our Lady of Loreto. Of cause I said yes. I then put him in contact with Barbara Lepak (Pascucci) who is desperately trying to make Our Lady of Loreto a New York Landmark.
Peter Duffy conducted interviews with Barbara Lepak (Pascucci) and myself regarding our concern to save Our Lady of Loreto from being demolished.
We provided him with in-depth information about the history of Our Lady of Loreto and our old neighborhood.
On November 30, 2008, Barbara met with Peter Duffy in front of Our Lady of Loreto and gave him a tour of the old neighborhood and it's history.
Mr. Duffy has also contacted Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio of The Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn for his input regarding our concern.
Peter Duffy has informed me that the story will be published in the New York Times Newspaper on Monday, December 29, 2008.
You can read the story on the Internet by visiting their website.
I am looking forward to reading what Bishop DiMarzio had to say.
A spokesman for the Diocese has informed Mr. Duffy that demolition for Our Lady of Loreto is scheduled for the end of 2009.
We are very hopeful that the story will have an impact with Bishop DiMarzio in our effort to save Our Lady of Loreto from being demolished.
Once again we ask you to please contact Bishop DiMarzio by writing to him with your concern to save Our Lady of Loreto as this may be our last resort.

Donny.................that's great news about Mr. Duffy and the article in the nytimes on l2/29/08......I'll be sure to buy it and maybe you can post it on our website...you have done so much in trying to save our beloved church.......thank you.
Let's hear from the rest of you enyorkers........Happy New Year to all.
Hey Donny, WE DID IT!!!! We made the paper! Now we have to pray someone will see it and do something to save our church. I will still work hard on my end and I know you, Laura and others will be doing the same!
A BIG thank you to Joe Sciorra, from the Calandra Institute, he is the one who told the reporter Peter Duffy about OLL.
I went over on what had to be the coldest day of the year one Saturday to meet with the Times' photographer. Barbara Lepak and her family met me there (Thank God!) and offered protection from the cold.
I read the article with great interest and heard from my sister Jackie that she had read it too. I thought it was actually very good and surprisingly accurate.
Congratulations to you and Barbara for pulling it off!
Thank you! It was very nice to meet you. I was so happy you came to support our church. Hopefully the story will help us.
Happy New Year!!
