Gary Warren on BBC London

As I mentioned in s post under the heading Gary Warren last week, I spoke to Gary on Friday and he has informed me that he will again be on The Danny Baker radio show on Thursday September 9th this time talking about Catweazle.

The shows goes out on BBC London 94.9 fm between 3pm and 5pm and Gary has said he should be on around 4 pm.

Thankfully we have plenty of warning this time around so as not to miss it. For those that do, it will be on BBC London web site for a short time afterwards.

If all goes well there may be a surprise or two.

Re: Gary Warren on BBC London

This is a marvellous opportunity to show the strength of feeling for Catweazle, by people (if allowed and not at work etc.) phoning in and discussing it on the radio. It would also be nice to show Gary that we are genuinely delighted to be able to make contact and hopefully friends with him.
On this note, I personlly wish to thank Sue (now known as Miss Marple)for all her hard work and, perseverance that has resulted in us finally getting in touch with Gary, - and what a lovely chap he is too! Oh how I wish we could have reunited the two "boys" together. I have said this before and I will say it again. We are so blessed to have the "stars" in Catweazle that we have. Every one of them has been an absolute joy to meet and also everyone has been so generous with their time and spirit - It truely is MAGICAL!

Re: Gary Warren on BBC London

Wow Sue....how good are you feeling now?! Not only tracking the lovely Mr Warren down but chatting to him as well. How exciting.

And how good will the rest of us feel if you can weave a bit more magic and encourage him to go along to Hexwood next year? Fingers very crossed that your powers of persuasion are as good as your investigative skills.

Is there any chance that the interview will be taped by anyone? I can't access a lot of English TV or radio snippets via websites because I'm in the 'wrong region' but would love to hear the interview if at all possible.

Thanks in advance, and again, nicely done Sue.

Re: Gary Warren on BBC London

Further to Carol's message - perhaps members could also email the show prior to transmission?

Here is a link for the show's contact information:

And yes, Danny Baker's email IS margaret.rutherford!

Re: Gary Warren on BBC London

Well I listened to it yesterday, and managed to watch some of the latter bit of the programme on their web cam. He looked very relaxed and you could still recognise him even after all these years, together with his voice. The Club and Hexwood were mentioned in a plug and I learned that both he and Danny Baker were Hon Members,so that was good-it bodes well next year for Hexwood. Fingers crossed! It was a treat to hear him speaking to Geoffrey after all these years and nice to know they'd met for lunch. I do hope that Garry Warren and Geoffrey stay in touch in future and rekindle the obvious warmth of a friendship they enjoyed all those years ago. I hope too that Garry stays in touch with Sue given her pivotal and instrumental role in bringing both he and Geoffrey together again after 40 years. I personally feel this has boosted the image of the club to the wider public and all credit to her. Definitely a club asset.Well done Sue. Now, your next mission, should you accept it.......................................................................................................................................................!

Re: Gary Warren on BBC London

Thanks Pete

Much appreciated. Next mission??? Bring it on!

Geoffrey is certainly happy to be in touch with Gary again and that was very important to me. Gary also seems to be pleased with rekindling the friendship and both Carol and myself are gently easing him into the fold as long as he really wants to be there. So far so good and hopefully he will be with us next year as the newsletter stated. We do have to remember he now has a career in a different sphere which must come first.

I do hope a lot of members managed to listen to the radio interview and hopefully we will get a copy to those who could not or cannot get to listen on line.

It was certainly a challenge but one that was a pleasure to do and I am glad that members will at last hopefully get a chance to meet him all being well.

I'm in almost the same boat as Iain - I wasn't able to get it via the link and would love to have a listen if anyone has a copy.

Thanks in advance.
