Hello. I'm trying to find information on my Gr Grandfather, Colour Sergeant James Liddy of the 90thFoot (Perthshire Vol) He was stationed in India where he married in 1860 and fathered 3 children while there. I believe he was there during the Mutiny. (Would he have fought in Afganistan?) He shows up on the Indian medal rolls but no details. The last info I have on him is in 1881 as a Chelsea pensioner living in Wales. I think that was for length of service not because he was wounded. Lots of info on WWI but not much on him or his son Arthur John who was in the army when he was 10 or 14 served in the first South African Campaign. Were no recoeds kept during these early years? I find it amaizing that these two came home considering the huge mortality during their military life. Hope you can give me some research pointers. Thanks
