The Light Infantry & All Former Light Infantry Regiments
Welcome to our Message Board which has been provided by the generosity of many ex. SCLI and other light infantrymen. All light infantrymen from the wider light infantry family are free to post a message.
Thank you to all those who have sent me e-mails with your thoughts on the TA Centre, unfortunately however, it would appear that some of you have got the wrong idea in thinking that it is intended to hold the Reunion there. That is incorrect, the Reunion will be held at our normal venue which is the Taunton Police Reform Club.
I will clarify the situation and explain what is required.
I know that accommodation costs at Hotels/Guest Houses in Taunton is quite high and It is my view that because of this some people who would like to attend the Reunion are prevented from doing so because of that fact. I therefore in agreement with the Assistant Regimental Secretary, Taunton, attended the TA Centre,Bishops Hull Taunton and had a meeting with the PSAO Capt Barny Barnes with the view of using the TA Centre for accommodation purposes on the Saturday night following the Reunion. Capt Barnes was in full agreement with the idea, a Breakfast would also be provided on the Sunday morning all for a nominal fee which would not exceed £10. The only drawback to this was if the TA were actually using the Centre for training purposes over that particular weekend. Their dates for Training Weekends in 2008 have not been finalised at this stage. But I am sure there are ways around such obstacles.
What I now require is for all those who would wish to stay at the TA Centre to either e-mail or telephone me on 01823-279109 with your names so that I can go forward to my next meeting with Capt.Barnes with a number in mind. Remember you will need to provide your own sleeping bags. If the TA Centre is not available for our use due to training, a message will be put out in plenty of time for you to make alternative accommodation arrangements.
PLEASE NOTE: I NEED YOUR THOUGHTS NOW, NOT IN 2008, PLANNING FOR THE NEXT REUNION STARTS AS YOU HEAD HOME.

I find it utterly amazing that although Lawries message has been read 92 times, nobody to date has posted a comment.
Following on from Lawries suggestion, we would welcome any feedback at all on the SCLI LI reunion arrangements as undoubtedly it will get harder to keep this all together as the years go by.
Those that have come to reunion in the last few years at Taunton will have seen the numbers attending rising, however to keep this up means a terrific effort from the organisers, I am told the SCLI website has helped a lot in this, but this alone is not enough.
As webmaster of www.scli.co.uk I have posted the following message on the Home Page:
A thought for you all - from Keith (webmaster)
With the reunion now behind us could I please give you another thought and this is to find as many Ex SCLI & LI as possible.
During the course of the year I along with Tony Hood, Vic Higgins, Brian Aldridge and several others put a lot of effort into seeking out ex SCLI wherever they might be hiding, then once found, to try and coax them into coming to reunion keeping in touch permanently.
This is not at all easy as some guys do not want to be found, their privacy must be respected but we have had notable successes so its not all gloom.
The regiment had a nine year life and my calculated guess is 3 to 4000 men passed through in those years, however the Taunton Office sends out 400 invitations to reunion and we get about 150, so there is plenty of scope out there to find SCLI.
Could I please ask you all to tell me details of any SCLI & LI you might know of, I will do the rest to see if they are interested at all in renewing old friendships, finally my thanks to you all for your continued support with your interest and friendship, we all have a common bond which cannot be broken. I simply want to extend that bond to all ex SCLI in the hope they will enjoy it as much as we all do.
Hello Keith.
As you know I am still learning about this computing business. I thought I has sent a message to Lawrie giving him my support. I hope others will get on board and make 2008 the success it deserves
