You can't even tell Luann from For Better or Worse and yet you're impugning TB's motives? I think the cartoonist is simply running a true to life storyline (imagine that) and slipping in whatever ironic or bittersweet punchlines or observations he can along the way. Humor related to life can include humor related to death. What a concept.

I think all the people objecting to Lisa's death are funny. People ... death was even tackled on Mr. Rogers and Sesame Street ... and it wasn't recently, either. In other words, this is not a bold move. But judging by the reaction to the storyline, it's a highly effective portrayal by TB with his art and dialogue. I would agree with that (implied) assessment. That to me is what makes it different. It hurts to lose Lisa after all these years. Guess what? It should.
