Blackpool

The results from Saturday on Scrutelle certainly make interesting reading, as will no doubt those for Sunday and Tuesday when they appear !

Re: Blackpool

results are results and there is nothing anyone can do to change them. i think its strange though that some dancers think that a board that is no good for them will really make any difference, maybe its just that on the day their performance just was not up to scratch. so anyone who didnt do as well as they wanted to, take it on the chin, learn from it, and dont rely on a "good board" to get you through.

Re: Blackpool

Even outstanding performances are overlooked if it is not a truly independent board, but I do not think such a board exists as a lot of couples have several teachers to ensure that they gain marks at the expense of those couples with only one teacher, with a couple of exceptions.

Re: Blackpool

Well I for one am very happy with my daughter and her partner. They danced beautifully and got the results to show it. They only have one teacher.

Re: Blackpool

It would be nice if people could show good sportsmanship, accept the results you get and move on!

Re: Blackpool

The last time I danced at Blackpool the judges were supposed to mark "without favour or prejudice" Obviously this is not the case! Good sportsmanship DOES exist however, when dancers have continually made final's and then don't at Blackpool you have to wonder why!

Re: Blackpool

just look on scrutelle. the proof is there. every single adjudicator has marked their own favourably.

Re: Blackpool

Not my kids as their teacher wasn't on the board. As I said, I am ecstatic with their results

Re: Blackpool

the line-up is very different from the sunday to the tuesday!

Re: Blackpool

Hardly suprising- it's a different dance style.

Re: Blackpool

even in the youth!

Re: Blackpool

Maybe the dancers aren't robots and dance differently on different days?

Re: Blackpool

I think you will find observer that it may be the case that teachers may mark their own - this could be down to the fact that each judge marks on personal preference of style along with correct footwork etc etc. I think that you are forgetting that there were other judges on the floor who did not have pupils there and still marked the dancers similar. Far too many comments being made about favouratism etc, this only comes to light when individuals are not happy. If the dancers perform to the standard they cannot be ignored otherwise the judge looks a right muppet shall we say. Well done everyone for the whole weekend dancers teachers and judges. Also to curious you are quite right the line ups were different. Like stated different dances etc, different night, different competitors, different day. Thats the way it should be !

Re: Blackpool

unfotunatly, at the end of the day, some dancers think that they have an automatic right to be placed in a final, no matter how good or bad they danced, and they get quite a shock when they dont. maybe this encourages people to dance better next time.

Re: Blackpool

Oh come on, when has dancing truly been judged on merit only. Do you seriousy think that an adjudicator is going to mark someone else's couple above his/her own when judging a final. I don't think so. Imagine the flack afterwards and lack of income. We only have to look at the X Factor for this, each mentor votes for its own act to stay.....!

Also with sequence, where is the need to go to several teachers, if its not for extra marks....?

Re: Blackpool

I have to agree with Grace.. I danced Juv/Junior/Am for 26 years and it never changed...
