Keating Resigns Board
Former Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating tendered his resignation from his
position as chairman of the review board for sex-abuse by Catholic priests.
The resignation follows a Los Angeles Times interview in which Keating likened
unnamed Church officials to the mafia saying, "To act like La Cosa Nostra
and hide and suppress, I think, is very unhealthy."
The Chicago Tribune quoted powerful Chicago Cardinal George as saying, "Episcopal
authority is a gift from Christ. Sometimes it is badly exercised, and that
is sinful and wrong, but there's no possible comparison to something as evil
as La Cosa Nostra. In that sense, it's an inaccurate and insulting comparison."
Bishop Wilton Gregory, president of the U.S. bishops' conference, accepted
Keatings resignation commenting that Keating had filled the role that "I
gave you."

Church Abuse Victim Drowns
Patrick McSorley, who was very outspoken in the trial against now-defrocked
Catholic priest John Geoghan accused of molesting him in 1986, is in critical
condition after an apparent drowning accident. Ironically, McSorley was in
"Pope John Paul II Park", where authorities said McSorley and a friend had
become separated just minutes before the friend and a passing jogger discovered
the 28-year-old man face down in the Neponset River. Authorities haven't
a clue on how Patrick got into the water. McSorley was one of several litigants
who was awarded the 10 million dollar settlement for the Geoghan case.

Phoenix Bishop Arrested for Hit-and-Run
The Roman Catholic Church appointed a new interim administrator in Phoenix
because 67 yr old Phoenix Bishop Thomas O'Brien was arrested for a fatal
hit and run accident. Twp weeks ago O'Brien had admitted to not doing anything
about alleged molestation by priests in his diocese. Now, he is incarcerated
for killing a man, Jim Reed, with his car and fleeing the scene. The Vatican
accepted O'Brien's resignation and appointed Santa Fe, N.M., Archbishop Michael
Sheehan as interim administrator of the diocese in addition to his regular
duties. O'Brien was charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident. A
witness provided a license plate number and police traced it to the bishop's
car which had a partially smashed windshield.

Pro-Gay Van Kuiken Gets Boot
A Presbyterian church council voted 119-45 to remove the "Rev." Stephen Van
Kuiken from his 19 yr ministry at Mount Auburn Presbyterian Church in Cincinnati
and from membership in the Presbyterian Church (USA) for violating church
law by his marrying of same-sex couples earlier this year. He did so in direct
violation of church order.
The highest Presbyterian court subjected their denomination to this heresy
when they ruled in 2000 that ministers may bless same-sex unions but cannot
marry the couples. They stuck to the biblical definition of marriage but
allowed the sin of homosexuality to be considered and accepted in and amongst
the church. A little leaven leavens the whole lump. Beware the leaven of
the modern scribes and pharisees.

Roe No More
Norma McCorvey, the former "Roe" of Roe v. Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court case
that legalized abortion, hosted a news conference in Dallas last Tuesday
on the 33rd anniversary of that historic court case to announce another historic
decision to request that her case be re-opened, tried, and overturned. McCorvey
is asking that the judgment in the original Roe case be set aside. "Roe,"
who now likes to be called "Miss Norma," was quoted by news sources saying,"I
long for the day that justice will be done and the burden from all of these
deaths will be removed from my shoulders. I want to do everything in my power
to help women and their children. The issue is justice for women, justice
for the unborn, and justice for what is right." McCorvey became a baptized
Christian in 1995 but in 1998 fell into Catholicism. She started and still

COMECE Appeals to EU Leaders
The Commission of the Bishops' Conferences of the European Community (COMECE)
published a document/letter lauding the work of the European Convention,
which has the dubious task of drafting the new EU Constitution. The new COMECE
document explains that the bishops "regard the invocation of Europe's religious
heritage as a significant advance for the EU and welcome the fact that the
values and objectives of the future EU correspond to the Social Teaching
of the Church."
The bishops also greet with approval the draft Constitution's section on
the democratic life of the Union, especially the proposed Article 51, "which
guarantees the European Union's respect for the status of Churches and religious
communities in the Member States based on their different constitutional
traditions." The main thrust of the bishop's document is to push for Christianity
(and, by extension and more to their point, Catholicism) to be included in
the wrting of the new EU Constitution. The RCC has her foot in the stirrup
and is climbing on the back of this Euro-beast.
In EU government offices, Italy, Poland, the Netherlands and Spain lobbied
to include a reference to God and Christianity because of the fact of the
religion's influence on European history. The draft preamble to the EU
Constitution does not specifically mention "Christianity" but does includes
a reference to the "cultural, religious and humanist inheritance of Europe."

Bones Box Contention
James Ossuary, the ancient burial chest with the inscription on it, "James,
son of Joseph, brother of Jesus," was called a fake by the (antichristian)
Israel's Antiquities Authority. The IAA said the ossuary was indeed ancient
but the inscription wasn't because, they said, the letters cut through the
patina (a thin fossilized coating acquired with age). The claim of authenticity
of the box by several opposing groups yet contradicts the findings of Israel's
Antiquities Authority. The Catholic Church was happy with the claim of fraud,
as the discovery created controversy, as it clearly proves that the position
of the Catholic Church that Jesus was the Virgin Mary's only child is entirely
false.
Galatians 1:19-20 But other of the apostles saw I none,
save James the Lord's brother. Now the things which I write unto you, behold,
before God, I lie not.
Matthew 13:55-56 Is not this the carpenter's son? is
not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon,
and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this
man all these things?

Escaped Man Turns Self In
After Craig Baumler's father died, Craig escaped from a Wisconsin prison.
He escaped from the Oakhill Correctional Institution on Aug. 13, 1998, because
there was not even a fence at that time to secure inmates. He was serving
convictions for burglary and theft. Since that time Baumler became a Christian
and deided he needed to come clean. He turned himself in last Thursday to
the authorities in Wisconsin. Baumler could face another five years but was
originaly to be released in 2001. May the courts be merciful.
Psalms 142:7 Bring my soul out of prison, that I may
praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal
bountifully with me.

Supporting Scriptural Quotes:
James 2:17-20 Even so faith, if it hath not works,
is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works:
shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my
works. Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils
also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without
works is dead? James 2:24&26 Ye see then
how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. ... For as the
body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
Exodus 20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD
thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his
name in vain (emptiness). [Don't claim to be a Christian and not act
like it]
Proverbs 30:7-9 Two things have I required of thee;
deny me them not before I die: Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me
neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: Lest I be
full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal,
and take the name of my God in vain. [stealing is against God's commands
- don't call yourself His and act contrary]
Tit 1:15-16 Unto the pure all things are pure: but
unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their
mind and conscience is defiled. They profess that they know God; but in works
they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work
reprobate.
1John 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him
purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
1John 2:4&6 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth
not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. ... He that
saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

I Want A Principle Within - An old Gospel song by Charles
Wesley, 1707-1788.
"I want a principle within, Of Watchful, Godly
Fear,
A sensibility of sin, A pain to feel it
near.
Help me the first approach to feel, Of pride or
wrong desire,
To catch the wandering of my will, And quench the
kindling fire."
"From Thee that I no more may stray, No more Thy
goodness grieve,
Grant me the filial awe, I pray, The tender conscience
give.
Quick as the apple of an eye, O God, my conscience
make!
Awake my soul when sin is nigh, And keep it still
awake."
"Almighty God of truth and love, To me Thy power
impart;
The burden from my soul remove, The hardness from
my heart.
O may the least omission pain, My reawakened
soul,
And drive me to that grace again, Which makes the
wounded whole."
In this era of grievous national sin, we need to pray daily for a tender
conscience, one that grieves us immediately when sin approaches. We need
a conscience that grieves us more over minor sin than others grieve over
major sin. Once the Holy Spirit thus inflicts His Godly pain, He then immediately
provides His Grace, "which makes the wounded whole". Make our souls this
tender toward you, Oh My God!
