Scars
[submitted by Susan Bush - CO -Thanks
Sister!]

Some years ago, on a hot summer day in the Florida Keys, a little boy decided
to go for a swim in the old swimming hole behind his house. In a hurry to
dive into the cool water, he ran out the back door, leaving behind shoes,
socks, and shirt as he went. He flew into the water, not realizing that as
he swam toward the middle of the pond, an alligator was swimming toward the
shore. His mother, in the house and looking out the window, saw the two as
they got closer and closer together.

In utter fear, she ran toward the water, yelling to her son as loudly as
she could. Hearing her voice, the little boy become alarmed and made U-turn
to swim to his mother. It was too late. Just as he reached her, the alligator
reached him.  From the dock, the mother grabbed her little boy by the
arms just as the alligator snatched his legs. That began an incredible tug
of war between the two. The alligator was much stronger than the mother,
but the mother was much too passionate to let go. A farmer happened to drive
by, heard her screams, raced from his truck, took aim and shot the alligator.

Remarkably, after weeks and weeks in the hospital, the little boy survived.
His legs were extremely scarred by the vicious attack of the animal.
On his arms, were deep scratches from where his mother's fingernails dug
into his flesh in her effort to hang on to the son she loved.  The newspaper
reporter who interviewed the boy after the trauma asked if he would show
him his scars. The boy lifted his pants legs.  And then, with obvious
pride, he said to the reporter, "But look at my arms. I have great scars
on my arms too. I have them because my Mom wouldn't let go."

You and I can identify with that little boy. We have scars too. No, not from
an alligator, but some scars of painful past experiences.  Some of those
scars are unsightly and have caused us deep regret. But, some wounds, my
friend, are there precisely because God has refused to let go. In the midst
of your struggle, He's been there holding on to you. The Scriptures teach
that God loves you. You are an infinitely precious child of God. He wants
to protect you and provide for you in every way. The swimming hole of life
is filled with peril and the enemy is waiting to attack. That's when the
tug of war begins-and if you have the scars of His love on your arms, be
very, very grateful. He did not, and will not, ever let you go.

The Eucharist: An Ecumenical Tool
     [by Ken
Hoeck]

The Catholic Eucharist is increasing being used to bind protestant churches
back to Rome and to hold sway of the laity. The RCC teaches that unless you
bow to them to receive their 'communion wafer' that you cannot be saved which
cause fear in the multitudes of unlearned people. I have read that the Mel
Gibson movie The Passion juxtaposes the 'sacrifice of the cross with the
sacrifice of the altar' which according to Gibson and the Catholic Church
is the same thing. Last year U.S. Catholic bishops and unveiled a statement
called "The Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Sacrament of the Eucharist:
Basic Questions and Answers.''  The statement reiterates that the Catholic
Church still believes the medieval theology that the Eucharist "is an
inexhaustible mystery that the Church can never fully explain in words.''
In the celebration of the 'mass' - both Catholic and Protestant - priests
perform what they call "Transubstantiation" which is the changing of one
substance into another; hence the elements of bread and wine into the body
and blood of the Lord. The Catholic church has taught that the substance
of the bread and wine is changed or "transubstantiated" by the power of the
Holy Spirit into the substance of the body and blood of Jesus Christ. The
claim that the outer appearance remains as bread and wine, but it is "in
fact now the body and blood of Christ (at the level of substance or deepest
reality).''

This "transubstantiation" is not a new concept but is reminiscent of the
ancient Egyptian Mystery Religions. In ancient Egypt, worshippers of the
'sun god' (Osiris) ate similar small sun-shaped wafers which had been consecrated
by the Egyptian priests who claimed that the bread had become the body of
Osiris. The Roman Catholic wafer, carried in a "Monstance" or giant sunburst
shaped idol, is usually embossed with the letters "IHS" which is thought
by some to represent the first letters of each word in the Latin phrase Iesus
Hominum Salvator (Jesus Saviour of Men), although the Catholic Church itself
says they actually represent the first three letters of the name "Jesus"
in Greek. An ancient Egyptian priest or a Canaanite baal-worshipper would
recognize it as being the first initials of their triune godhead which included
"I" for Isis, "H" for Horus, and "S" for Seb. [In Egyptian mythology Seb
(Geb) was the father of the goddess Isis (Aset), the mother and protectress
of her divine son Horus (Harpocrates). Horus (the younger) is frequently
depicted on Egyptian temples as a winged sun disk, representing the rays
of the rising sun.]

This unbloody sacrifice is a relic of sun goddess/god worship. This unbloody
sacrifice that is implied in 'the mass that dismisses a man's sins' is blasphemy-
spiritual fornication ... and a greater blasphemy is that the "unbloody
sacrifice" of the mass is celebrated over and over in order to dismiss men
from their sin.

The Catholic Church still has in place laws against anyone who would declare
any of this idolatry. The Catholic church killed those who denied
transubstantiation in the past. "If anyone denies that
in the sacrament of the most Holy Eucharist are contained truly, really and
substantially the body and blood together with the soul and divinity of our
Lord Jesus Christ, and consequently the whole Christ, but says that He is
in it only as in a sign, or figure or force, let him be
anathema."
~Canons and Decrees of the Council of Trent.
Original text with translation by 'Rev.' H.J. Shroeder, O.P.,B. Herder Books
Co. 1960, p 79, Canon 1 ["anathema" means accursed or condemned - worthy
to be put to death]

The word transubstantiation was adopted into the terms of the Romish church
in 1215 by the Fourth Lateran Council. The dogma was reconfirmed (1551) by
the Council of Trent, as follows: "If any one shall
say that, in the most holy sacrament of the Eucharist, there remains the
substance of bread and wine together with the body and blood of our Lord
Jesus Christ; and shall deny that wonderful and singular conversion of the
whole substance of the bread into the body, and of the whole substance of
the wine into the blood, the species of bread and wine alone remaining, which
conversion the Catholic Church most fittingly calls Transubstantiation, let
him be anathema"
(Session 13, Canon 2).

"If anyone says that in the holy sacrament of the
Eucharist, Christ, the only begotten Son of God, is not to be adored with
the worship of Iatria, also outwardly manifested, and is consequently neither
to be venerated with a special festive solemnity, nor to be solemnly borne
about in procession according to the laudable and universal rite and custom
of the holy Church, or is not to be set publicly before the people to be
adored and that the adorers therof are idolaters, let him be
anathema."
~Canons and Decrees of the Council of Trent.
Original text with translation by 'Rev.' H.J. Shroeder, O.P.,B. Herder Books
Co. 1960, p 79, Canon 6

The taking often of the bread and wine comes from a misuse of scripture [I
Cor 11:25-26] that says "as oft as you" eat the bread and drink the wine.
For lack of knowledge some determined they could take them as often as they
wanted. The bread and the wine of the "Lord's Supper" were new symbols of
the ANNUAL Passover with Christ fulfilling His role as the Paschal Lamb.
The bread and wine of the true ANNUAL Passover is "kept" as it was delivered
to the church (I Cor. 11:1) that is in remembrance of that ONE complete and
satisfactory sacrifice of our blessed Lord Jesus Christ, when He offered
Himself to God. (Eph. 5:2, Heb.7:27; 10:10; 9:14; ) . Please remember that
"without shedding of blood is no remission" (Heb.
9:22) "Now where remission of these is (sins
and iniquities), there is no more offering for sin"
(Heb. 10:17-1 . "How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through
the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience
from dead works to serve the living God?" Heb.9:14;
"Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many."
Heb. 9:28; "By the which will (will of
God) we are sanctified through the offering of the
body of Jesus Christ ONCE for all
(or once for ever)" Heb. 10:10;
"For by ONE offering He (Christ)
hath perfected forever them that are sanctified"
Heb. 10:14. The mass is blasphemy pretending to dismiss men's sins
by an "unbloody sacrifice" is anti-Christ doctrine - denying the Lord Jesus
Christ.

The Catholic and Orthodox Churches seem to have a problem understanding Matt
26:26 "...this is my body.." They need to realize
the term actually means that it 'symbolizes' such. There are an abundance
of passages that use this same phraseology : i.e. "I
am the door."
(John 10:7). He wasn't 'transubstantiated' into a solid
physical door ... its just an analogy.  Also regard other passages such
as: "I am the true vine." (John 15:1) The scriptures
are full of such examples. If the Romanist insists that "This is my blood"
means literally that the wine is transformed into Christ's very blood then
they believe that a Christian can drink blood - even human blood. Acts 15:20
states that even newbie Believers must NOT consume blood reiterating the
early command in Genesis 9:4 "But flesh with the life
thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat."
[see
also Lev 3:17; 7:26; 17:10-14; 19:26; Deut 12:16; 14:21; 15:23; 1Sam 14:34;
Acts 15:20,29]
The Passover/Lord's Supper is an annual commemoration
of a sacrifice, not a repetition of it - crucifying afresh Our Lord.

Quote: "Why the Catholic Mass is Idolatry" By John Knox 1550 :
"If the Roman Catholic Mass is the ordinance of God,
then it is not idolatry, but I will now prove that it is the mere invention
of man without any commandment of God, and is therefore idolatry. ... What
spirit tells us that the Mass is a sacrifice for the sins of the living and
the dead, the Spirit of God or the spirit of man? The Catholics shamelessly
claim Peter and John celebrated the first Mass, but they have not one shred
of Scriptural proof. The truth is, Pope Sixtus was the first to institute
the altars, Felix consecrated them, Boniface added the altar cover, Gregory
instituted candles and special clothes, and so on, each pope adding until
at last the whole blasphemous idol was established. Yet, they claim Saint
Peter said the first Mass despite the fact that for hundreds of years after
Peter there was no Mass yet invented. "

A Roman Miracle

A pretty maid, a Protestant, was to a Catholic wed;

To love all Bible truths and tales, quite early she'd been bred,

It sorely grieved her husband's heart that she would not comply,

And join the Mother Church of Rome and heretics deny.

So day by day he flattered her, but still she saw no good

Would ever come from bowing down to idols made of wood.

The Mass, the host, the miracles, were made but to deceive;

And transubstantiation, too, she'd never dare believe.

He went to see his clergyman and told him his sad tale.

"My wife is an unbeliever, sir; you can perhaps prevail;

For all your Romish miracles my wife has strong aversion,

To really work a miracle may lead her to conversion.

"The priest went with the gentleman -- he thought to gain a prize.

He said "I will convert her, sir, and open both her eyes."

So when they came into the house, the husband loudly cried,

"The priest has come to dine with us!" "He's welcome" she replied.

And when, at last, the meal was o'er, the priest at once began,

To teach his hostess all about the sinful state of man:

The greatness of our Saviour's love, which Christians can't deny.

To give Himself a sacrifice and for our sins to die.

"I will return tomorrow, lass, prepare some bread and wine;

The sacramental miracle will stop your soul's decline."

"I'll bake the bread, " the lady said. "You may" he did reply.

"And when you've seen this miracle, convinced you'll be, say I.

"The priest did come accordingly, the bread and wine did bless.

The lady asked, "Sir, is it changed?" The priest answered, "Yes".

It's changed from common bread and wine to truly flesh and blood;

Begorra, lass, this power of mine has changed it into God!"

So having blessed the bread and wine, to eat they did prepare.

The lady said unto the priest, "I warn you to take care",

For half an ounce of arsenic was mixed right in the batter,

But since you have its nature changed, it cannot really matter."

The priest was struck real dumb -- he looked as pale as death.

The bread and wine fell from his hands and he did gasp for breath.

"Bring me my horse!" the priest cried. "This is a cursed home!"

The lady replied, "Begone: t'is you who shares the curse of Rome.

"The husband, too, he sat surprised, and not a word did say.

At length he spoke, "My dear, " said he, "the priest has run away;

To gulp such mummery and tripe, I'm not for sure, quite able;

I'll go with you and we'll renounce this Roman Catholic fable."

Prayer Request Updates

HAROLD CORMANY [fell down stairs] : Harold is not getting around yet like
he would like.  He is still having some pain in the areas where he hit
the floor, and feels pretty good one day and the next day he doesn't feel
so good.  He is able to walk around now, but still hasn't ventured to
go outside yet.  Your continued prayers would be appreciated.

ROBERT JEPSEN [excerpt from Rod England's email dated 2/16/2004 to Harold
& Joyce Cormany-sorry for the delay] Debbie has been in Washinton
..., visiting Robbie [Robert Jepsen] at Walter Reed Army Hospitial.
When she arrived, he was still lapsing in and out of a coma.  Almost
immediately, his condition dramatically improved.  The doctors now say
that his progress is weeks ahead of where it should be, considering
the extent of his injuries.  It's an example of the power of prayer,
and has given us an opportunity to witness that truth.  Here locally,
the news media got wind of what happened, and vitually every news source
in the valley interviewed us.  We had the opportunity to publically
thank everyone for all their help, including the sabbath-keeping
congregation that we attend- and those around the country that are praying
on his behalf.  Please keep us in your prayers; also that I [ROD ENGLAND]
can find employment after my operation that will provide us with what we
need to continue on. Thanks again for everything you have done, and
continue to do, in God's service.
