0993 - Ulrich, who lived c.890-973, and was Bishop of Augsburg from 923,
was canonized at a Lateran Synod. With this action by Pope John XV, St. Ulrich
became the first individual in Roman Catholic history formally elevated to
sainthood.

1780 - Pioneer American Methodist bishop Francis Asbury wrote in his journal:
'My soul is more at rest from the tempter when I am busily employed.'

1860 - American College established in Rome by Pope Pius IX

1921 - The Congregational Holiness Church was formally organized, following
a split the previous year with the Pentecostal Holiness Church. Headquartered
today in Griffin, GA, most CHC churches are located in the Southeast US.

1967 - Pope Paul VI and Soviet President Nikolai Podgorny conferred at the
Vatican in the first meeting in history between a Roman Catholic pontiff
and the head of a Communist state.

1989 - Episcopal church appoints 1st female bishop

0435 - Rome recognized the Vandal territories in Northwest Africa as "federati,"
in an effort to stave off their invasion of Italy. (The invasion was successfully
postponed for 20 years.)

1077 - Pope Gregory VII pardons German emperor Henry IV

1349 - Jews of Freilsburg Germany are massacred

1536 - Menno Simons reputedly renounces his Roman Catholic priesthood. He
becomes a level-headed leader of the Anabaptists, he helps preserve them.
His name becomes attached to the Mennonites.

1592 - Ippolito Aldobrandini elected Pope Clement VIII

1839 - Scottish clergyman Robert Murray McCheyne wrote in a letter: 'God
feeds the wild flowers on the lonely mountain side without the help of man....
So God can feed his own planted ones without the help of man, by the sweetly
falling dew of his Spirit.'

1867 - The American branch of the Evangelical Alliance was organized at the
Bible House in New York City, with William E. Dodge elected president.

1933 - Adolph Hitler named German Chancellor, forms government with Von Papen

1934 - Hitler proclamation on German unified states

1939 - Hitler, born of a Jewish mother, calls for the extermination of Jews

1951 - Belgium refuses to allow communists to make speeches on radio

0314 - Silvester I begins his reign as Catholic Pope

1538 - French reformer John Calvin wrote in a letter: 'I pray the Lord to
keep you in His holy protection, and so to direct you that you may not go
astray in that slippery path whereon you are, until He shall have manifested
to you His complete deliverance.'

1561 - Death of Menno Simons. This gentle Anabaptist leaders gave his name
to the Mennonites. Surprisingly, considering the rewards on his head, he
died a natural death.

1596 - Catholic League disjoins

1606 - Guy Fawkes convicted in the "Gunpowder Plot", executed at 35

1686 - King Louis XIV of France issues edict to burn Waldensian churches
to the ground.

1892 - Death of Charles Spurgeon, a Baptist minister considered one of the
greatest preachers of all time. His books of sermons continue to exert a
powerful influence.

1911 - In Falcon, NC, the Fire-Baptized Holiness Church (FBHC) and the
Pentecostal Holiness Church (PHC) officially merged. In 1915, the Tabernacle
Pentecostal Church (TPC) joined the merger. In 1975, the name of this body
officially became the International Pentecostal Holiness Church (IPHC).

1952 - Dutch Lutheran Church reunites after 1½ centuries

Kabbalah: Old Occult-New Fad

The Los Angeles Kabbalah Centre is thriving with all the new attention generated
by the embrace of Jewish mysticism by Hollywood's pop celebrities. Books,
bracelets, water, candles, oils, incense, jewelry, charms, stones, cds, even
'protective' baby blankets and crib sets - the Kabbalah store sells it all.
Traditional kabbala study involves hundreds of texts and more esoteric pursuits
like numerology. In contrast, students at the Kabbalah Centre are taught
that keeping a copy of the Zohar - which the center conveniently sells on
its Web site for $415, down from $494 - under their pillows will provide
them with basic spiritual enlightenment.

Pop idol Madonna spent more than $6 million to build a 10,000-square-foot
home for the Kabbalah Centre's London branch, three blocks from her home,
according to a British newspaper. And she has made the kabbala the focus
of "The English Roses," her children's book which is available for sale on
the center's Web site. Proceeds from the book's sales go to Spirituality
for Kids, an organization that oversees programs for adults and children,
including the Kabbalah Children's Academy. Though Madonna is undoubtedly
the kabbala's most vocal disciple, there are many others.

Jerri Hall [Mick Jagger's ex] has steeped herself in Kabbalah for years.
Although her interest lies more in Vedic religion, Demi Moore recently told
Vogue the kabbala helps her learn "the value of her worth." Paris Hilton
has taken up Kabbalah as well. Other reputed devotees include: Mick Jagger,
Elizabeth Taylor, Kirk Douglas, Sandra Bernhard, Roseanne Barr, Jeff Goldblum,
Barbra Streisand, Gwyneth Paltrow, and fashion designer Stella McCartney
among others.

Madonna chants the 72 names of God in Hebrew that are believed to "eliminate
chaos from the world and your life." She has been promoting Kabbalah bottled
water (which has supposedly absorbed the energy of the Torah by osmosis from
being in the same room with it and which "changes you on a molecular level,"
said a Centre employee). The water sells for $2.50-$3.50, a bottle and $26.00
a box. Maybe Madonna can interest you in a Kabbalah Centre's Red String bracelet
to "ward off the Evil Eye" for a mere $26-36.00? After their well-publicized
atrocious kiss at the MTV Video Music Awards, Madonna and Britney Spears
worked together on a song for the latter's upcoming album - and Spears emerged
from the studio wearing the red string bracelet. Winona Ryder wore a red
string kabbala bracelet during her trial for shoplifting.

Concerning the Red String the Centre's website states: "...according to Kabbalah,
envious stares and looks of ill will can prevent us from realizing our potential.
Kabbalists attribute much of everyday misfortunes to the evil eye - the negative
glances and resentful looks we receive from people harboring destructive
feeling towards us. The three-letter sequence of the Aleph Lamed Daled is
one of several safeguards which, according to Kabbalah, used in conjunction
with the red string offers protection from looks of envy and the mean-spirited
intentions of others. Used for centuries by the Kabbalists, The Red String
connects us to Rachel the Matriarch, who represents the aspect of protection
in the physical realm. Her greatest desire and purpose in life was to protect
and defend all of her children from evil. That is why she evokes the element
of protection from the universe. Each piece of Red String produced by The
Kabbalah Centre is taken to Rachel's tomb in Israel, and with power of the
Aleph Lamed Daled it is imbued with the essence of protection. The Red String
is worn on the left wrist - the receiving side of the body and soul –
sealing protective energy within while intercepting negative influences that
exist."

There are many Christians of a variety of flavors, Messianics, and others
that are being sucked into Judaism through the Kabbalah and its cohort The
Talmud. Many dabble with the numerology, the Gematria, the psychology [levels
of Jewish thought], and other cabalistic concepts thinking they can "extract
the good from Kabbalah and leave the bad behind." There is a great danger
and foolishness in this thinking. We are told in Exodus 23:2 "Thou shalt
not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to
decline after many to wrest judgment:" We are also admonished not to learn
the occultic religions of the world. Judaism has its roots in Babylon and
is not from the True Living God. The mystic traditions of the Talmud and
the Kabbalah are poison to any true believer and should be so shunned.

The following are excerpts from Elizabeth Dilling's The Jewish Religion:
Its Influence Today.

The Jewish Cabala: The existence of a spirit world, of evil spirits, is mentioned
throughout the Bible. Christ drove out possessing spirits. There is one hard
and fast rule taught on the subject, however: namely, to leave them alone,
do no invoking or communicating with them. It is clear that spirit elements
could deceive the finite powers of human beings.  "Thou shalt have no
other gods before me," is the First Commandment. "And that you shall do no
bowing to, or serving them," is the Second Commandment. (Exodus 20:3-5). 

Whereas the Bible represents God as the Supreme Intelligence, Creator and
Ruler, the pagan and atheist Judaistic concept is pantheism. In other words,
there is a great nature essence, out of which individual lives percolate
blindly without direction. "Pan" (nature) "theism" (god-ism) holds that the
sum of nature is god. Man becomes the all powerful Luciferian "god." 
It is foretold in Biblical prophecy that the Anti-Christ will personify that
concept (Isaiah 14:12-19; Daniel 11:36-38; Matt. 24:15; Mark 13:14). 

The Universal Jewish Encyclopedia (1943), as to the "Cabala," states: 
"Although Palestine was the birthplace of Jewish mysticism, the land where
the Cabala was conceived, it was in Babylonia that it attained its greatest
importance." It cites "the mystic speculations of the Talmud and the system
of the Cabala, originating in the one and reaching its completion in the
other." The Jewish Cabala is a library of literature, all on magic, spiritism,
and based on sheer pantheism. "Aaron ben Samuel is credited with bringing
the mysterious doctrine from Babylonia to Italy about the middle of the Ninth
Century; thence it spread to almost all the Christian countries of Europe."
(same Jewish Encyclopedia, page 616) Cabala, also spelled Kabbalah, means
"tradition," and it is the tradition of the paganisms of Babylon, Egypt,
and the pagan philosophers, enshrined in the Jewish religion. 

The Cabala and God: The Cabala is the bone and blood of Talmudic Judaism,
which is itself pagan from start to finish. It uses the "whited sepulchre"
of the Old Testament to cover its negation of every moral law in the Old
Testament as it promotes practice of all the occult demonistic abominations
excoriated by the Old Testament.

Something's Missing. Ever wonder why many 'Christian' denominations seem
lacking true repentence? Maybe its the version of the bible they are using
that is not teaching them properly.

King James Version Matthew 9:13) But go ye and learn what [that] meaneth,
I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous,
but sinners to repentance.

Tynedales Translation Matthew 9:13) Go and learn, what that means: I have
pleasure in mercy, and not in offering. For I am not come to call the righteous,
but the sinners to repentance.

The New King James Version  : (Matthew 9:13) But go and learn what
this means: 'I desire mercy and not sacrifice.' For I did not come to call
the righteous, but sinners, to repentance."

Young's Literal Translation    Matthew 9:13) but having gone,
learn ye what is, Kindness I will, and not sacrifice, for I did not come
to call righteous men, but sinners, to reformation.'

Now look at these others:

New International Version Matthew 9:13) But go and learn what this means:
'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.' For I have not come to call the righteous,
but sinners.

American Standard Version Matthew 9:13) But go ye and learn what [this]
meaneth, I desire mercy, and not sacrifice, for I came not to call the righteous,
but sinners.

The Douay-Rheims Bible  Matthew 9:13) Go then and learn what this

just, but sinners.

Wesley's New Testament  :  (Matthew 9:13) But go and learn what
this means, `It is mercy that I desire, not sacrifice'; for I did not come
to appeal to the righteous, but to sinners."

The New Living Translation  :  (Matthew 9:13) Then he added, "Now
go and learn the meaning of this Scripture: 'I want you to be merciful; I
don't want your sacrifices.' For I have come to call sinners, not
those who think they are already good enough."

I think we found what is missing ..... a call to
repentance.

Gold Fever

The truths of the Bible are like gold in the soil. Whole generations walk
over it, and know not what treasures are hidden beneath. So centuries of
men pass over the Scriptures, and know not what riches lie under the feet
