Thou Shalt Not Do Murder

In Atlanta, Georgia, 29 yr-old Christopher Carey and his wife Valerie along
with two children (7 and 2 yrs old) were found naked in the streets in the
cold of winter. The police learned from questioning the oldest child that
they were living in a nearby motel and that another child was hurt there.
Police went to the motel and found a dead six year old girl who "had been
strangled, stabbed, beaten and covered in pages torn from a Bible, possibly
in an attempt to 'undemonize' her," said an AP story. The Carey's were arrested,
taken to a psychiatric ward, and charged with murder while the children were
taken into DCFS custody. Christopher Carey was transferred to Fulton County
Jail and the next hearing is scheduled for Feb. 3. Valerie Carey still was
being held at a hospital psychiatric ward. The Carey's face charges of murder,
cruelty to children, public indecency and obstruction of justice. Cases like
this unjustly reflect a negative light on all bible-readers instead of the
bad seeds. Maybe the Carey's skipped the part about prayer and fasting to
cast out demons ... and that sixth commandment about murder?

Cult Leader Judged

Dwight "Malachi" York [58], head of the United Nuwaubian Nation of Moors,
was found guilty on four counts of racketeering and six child molestation-related
charges on Friday in a Georgia courtroom. York's sentencing, which could
be up to an 80 year prison term, is scheduled in 60 days. 14 boys and girls
testified that York molested them from 1998 through 2002. 7 others testified
that York never touched them. Claims of a conspiracy against York by his
son and other ex-members were deemed unfounded by the jury. The prosecutors
said that the victims were taught that York was the supreme authority ...
he was a god to them and used this for his own deviant purposes.

Dwight York, has also been known as: Malachi York; Chief Black Thunderbird
“Eagle”; and/or Malachi Z. York. York's cult of Nuwaubians are known by various
names such as: Yamassee Native American Nuwaubians; United Nuwaubian Nation
of the Moors; and Ancient and Mystic Order of Malchizedek. Through the years
at various times, York has claimed to be a rabbi, a Muslim imam, Egyptian
royalty with heritage to Pharoahs, and even a space alien messenger. He now
claims to be a Creek Indian named Chief Black Thunderbird Eagle.

The Nuwaubians have a 476-acre compound, dotted with imitations of Egyptian
pyramids, near the small town of Eatonton, GA. The compound, or parts thereof,
is subject to being seized by authorities due to the racketeering charges.
York's teachings incorporated parts of Native American Indian heritage,
Christianity, Egyptian mysticism, Islam, Judaism, and space alien theology.

From their unofficial website: "YMaku: Chief Black Thunderbird
“Eagle” was arrested and detained on May 8, 2002 A.D. and held on 4 counts
of transporting minors across state lines for indecent purposes and 5 days
later indicted in the State for 120 counts of child molestation and on August
2, 2002 their plot to use an illegal grand jury was exposed and that indictment
was quashed meaning dismissed. They later re-indicted again on October 2,
2002 for 208 counts of child molestation."

Checkpoint Charlie

The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 earlier this month that police may set up roadblocks
to "collect tips about crimes." The decision allows police officers to block
traffic and ask motorists for help in solving crimes. Critics have complained
that authorities might misuse the power, disguising dragnets as ''informational
checkpoints.'

Amish In The City

The UPN TV network is planning a new reality series for this summer, tentatively
called "Amish in the City," which features five Amish youth dropped into
a modern U.S. city. The show is loosely based upon the independent film "Devil's
Playground" and will follow the youths as they enter an Amish rite of passage
called "rumspringa" -- which means "running around." Rumspringa begins when
an Amish child reaches 16 years of age and is permitted to enter the "English
World" -- referred to by adult Amish as the "Devil's Playground." Rumspringa
continues until the youth decides whether or not they want to join or leave
the Amish church.

The Amish people are direct descendants of the Anabaptists of sixteenth century
Europe, more directly, a branch off of the Swiss Mennonites. Anabaptism
(re-baptizers) is a religion that came about during the reformation era against
the Catholic Church and even tenets of the Protestant split. The bible and
the Ordung [like the Jewish Talmud ... but different], which are the unwritten
rules of the church and are not specified in writing but are known and closely
followed, are the basics for the Amish people. The Amish follow the bible
at least in that they do not baptize infants but they also require baptism
of young adults to avoid them being lost forever. Yet, it is a personal decision
every young adult must make by themselves... probably the most important
decision of their lives.

Network executives say the show is not made to insult the Amish and called
it a "fish-out-of-water" situation that viewers will love to watch when Amish
"start getting real." Amish do not usually talk about their religion neither
do they appear on film. The young Amish in the series have willingly agreed
to forego these tenets of their society so they are already, apparently,
pre-disposed to opting for the worldly life rather than return to an Amish
baptism. They will be exposed to the coveteousness of shopping at malls,
wearing fashionable clothing such as blue jeans, the evils and lures of
television, the ability to enter the liberal dating culture of modern teens,
and even to 'party til they puke'. How many will return to what they were
taught in their youth?

Lucy Walker, who filmed the documentary Devil's Playground, said on the Oprah
show "You'd think that teenagers wouldn't go for it, but what's astonishing
is that almost all of them come back. In fact, more come back now than ever
before."

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should
go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Gay Family Cruises

The smell of this "Rose" stinks to high heaven. Rosie O'Donnell, her partner
Kelli O'Donnell, and travel director Gregg Kaminsky have formed the 'first
company devoted to gay and lesbian "family" vacations' called "R Family
Vacations." Kelli O'Donnell said, "There are already some great kid's programs
on the ship," she says "For adults, there will be discussion groups on adoption,
insemination, surrogacy; world-class entertainment and a lot of pampering
and relaxation opportunities." Such blatant sin put forth as something good
is indeed a spiritual shipwreck.

-----------------

Medical Risk

The San Francisco-based Gay and Lesbian Medical Association (GLMA), reported
that lesbians appear to be at a higher risk for developing breast cancer
than normal heterosexual women. A GLMA press release said: "More research
still needs to be done, but the results of this study indicate that there
are significant differences between the two groups of women." On that same
note, women who have procured an abortion have as much as a 30% increased
chance of developing breast cancer.

------------

L Word

Not to be left out, Showtime speaks the "L Word" on televison as it introduces
a series by that name revolving around a mostly lesbian cast of characters.
The show is cast in Los Angeles, and focuses on several attractive women:
their lives, careers, and romantic relationships - mostly gay and sometimes
straight. The mainstream media has recently stepped up its display of lesbian
activity. Enormous media attention was given to pop-music stars Madonna and
Britney Spear's kiss and a "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" lesbian sexual scene.
Newspapers have published headlines about American high school girls
experimenting with same-sex relationships to make this seem normal and acceptable
behavior.

There are a couple other "L words" that should be considered. Lust,
Lasciviousness, Licentiousness - these sins, as all others, lead to death.

Romans 1:20-32 For the invisible things of him from
the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things
that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without
excuse
: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as
God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their
foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became
fools,
And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made
like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping
things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts
of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
Who
changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature
more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God
gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural
use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving
the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men
with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that
recompence of their error which was meet.
And even as they did not like
to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind,
to do those things which are not convenient; Being filled with all
unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full
of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters
of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient
to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection,
implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which
commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure
in them that do them.

There is one more "L" Word ... Love. God so Loved the people that He sent
His only Son to die for their sins. All sinners need to repent (turn from
sin), accept the atoning blood of Christ as sacrifice for their sins, and
lead holy respectable lives before God and man, enduring all temptations
and persecutions until the promise of Eternal Life is brought to those whom
believe and live it.
