Anti-Globalist Annual

The World Social Forum, the 4th annual six day gathering of peace and
anti-globalization activists, began in Bombay, India Friday. The anti-globalist
theme is deeply engrained in the event and can be even seen in the running
of only Linux operating systems on computers (opposing Microsoft) and banning
multi-national products. The group wants to show the alternatives to
globalization and its free trade policies. The event helps to develop networks
to interact against the big machine of globalization. About 100,000 activists,
political workers and intellectuals from 130 countries are expected to attend
the event along with some 350 anti-global statesmen from nearly 30 countries
who will show support to the activists.

An AP brief said that "Nobel laureates Shirin Ebadi and Joseph Stiglitz are
among the speakers at the event, which lists more than 1,000 seminars, workshops
and cultural programs on militarism and peace, religious fanaticism, unfair
global trade, poverty and the rights of women, children and animals. The
war in Iraq is expected to be the focus."

Globalist Annual

The globalists will be having their big pow-wow, the World Economic Forum,
this month as well. On Jan. 21-25, the annual meeting of more than 2,100
state, business and civil society leaders from 94 countries, will be held
in the Swiss Alpine resort of Davos. This year the public debates of the
Open Forum will be guided by the theme "Globalization or de-globalization:
what is best for the world's poor?".  Other workshops include: Setting
the 2004 Agenda: Terrorism and the War on Terror; The Curse of Spam, Technology
Abuse and Internet Governance (including How should the Internet be governed
on a global scale?)
; Promoting Inter-Civilizational Dialogue and Action
(West and Islam), The Conspiracy behind Conspiracy Theories (How
to deal with Conspiracy Theories and those who believe them)
Was the
US government behind the attacks of 11 September? Have extraterrestrials
made contact with government leaders? ; The World in 2014: Rethinking the
Corporation; Chinese Business's Global Awakening; Plotting the Hegemon's
Course (including a. What will US foreign policy priorities be in the
coming 12 months? b. What long-term objectives will the US pursue in the
coming ten years? c. How might the rest of the world respond to US long-term
supremacy?)

Another discussion set for Friday, 23 is titled "Organized Religion Takes
On Its Taboos" The program summarizes: "Current events have forced religious
leaders to confront topics previously considered as taboo. 1) How are religious
leaders responding to taboo issues, particularly homosexuality and female
participation in organized religion? 2) How do religions view HIV/AIDS? Are
religious organizations helping or hindering in the campaign against HIV/AIDS?
4) How can religious leaders better deal with these challenges in the future?"

The entire agenda may be found on their official website at:
http://www.weforum.org/

Universal Language

Music is increasingly used for strategic ecumenical promulgation. According
to the "Holy See's Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews", and
the "Pontifical Councils for Promoting Christian Unity and for Interreligious
Dialogue", the Vatican will host an ecumenical concert on 01/17/03 "to promote
the commitment for a peaceful coexistence among all the children of Abraham."
The Concert of Reconciliation, funded by the U.S.-based Knights of Columbus,
will be held in Paul VI Hall and will be performed by 300 Jewish, Christian
and Muslim artists of the Philharmonic Orchestras of London; Krakow, Poland;
Ankara, Turkey; and US Orchestras from Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania.

Known as the "Pope's Maestro," Gilbert Levine [U.S.] will conduct the Pittsburgh
Symphony in a performance of composer John Harbison's new work, "Abraham,"
for chorus and orchestra. Harbinson said, "In these difficult times, the
music centers on the name and spirit of Abraham as a bridge, a mode of
communication, a point of commonality." The U.S. ambassador to the Holy See,
James Nicholson, called the three faiths' involvement in the concert ``an
expression of the solidarity that we are seeking among those faiths.'' The
concert is a repeat of one given Tuesday at Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania .

Romans 9:6-8 Not as though the word of God hath taken
none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: Neither, because
they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall
thy seed be called. That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these
are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted
for the seed.

John 8:39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham
is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would
do the works of Abraham.

Luke 3:8-9 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of
repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our
father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up
children unto Abraham. And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the
trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down,
and cast into the fire.

Church Trial for Lesbian 'Pastor'

In 2001, a complaint was filed against Rev. Rose Mary Damman, pastor of
Ellensburg United Methodist Church, [New Hampshire] after she disclosed to
Bishop Elias Galvan and clergy colleagues that she was "living in a partnered,
covenanted homosexual relationship with another woman." Bishop Galvan referred
the complaint to the judicial process of the church which began with a closed
hearing by the Committee on Investigation of the Pacific Northwest Conference
which later ... dismissed the charge.

An appeal was filed claiming that "egregious errors of church law" has been
committed by the Committee on Investigation. The Council sent the complaint
back to the northwest committee with instructions that members who are unwilling
to uphold the Discipline [church laws] "must step aside in this matter."
After being informed of the Judicial Council decision, one member of the
Committee stepped aside and was replaced by an alternate member. The newly
constituted committee considered the case in December in a closed hearing.
Bishop Galvan will designate another Bishop to convene and preside at a trial
court sometime during 2004. 12 Jurors will be selected from a pool of 35
clergy persons named by the district superintendents of the conference. The
Rev. Dammann continues to serve as pastor of Ellensburg United Methodist
Church in central Washington State.

JohnPaul2 Meets Israels Rabbis

Pope John Paul II met Friday with Israel's chief rabbis, Yona Metzger and
Shlomo Amar, and reiterated his commitment to improve Catholic relations
with practioners of Judaism. He ensured them his goal is promote cooperation
between the two faiths. The rabbis encouraged the pope to continue speaking
out against anti-Semitism and to dedicate a day to Judaism on the Catholic
calendar to stimulate study and thoughts about the Jewish faith. The two
teachers of Judaism were shown manuscripts written by the 12th century Jewish
scholar Moses Maimondes that are owned by the Vatican. The rabbis asked that
the manuscripts be lent to Israel for study. The rabbis recently announced
that they hoped that the Vatican would reveal having some Temple vessels
and the menorah, taken from the Jewish Temple when the Romans sacked Jerusalem
in 70 A.D., as depicted by The Arch of Titus in Rome. The Vatican has denied
the menorah is in their possesssion.

FALSE PROPHETS

And Jesus answered and said to them: "Take heed that no one deceives you.
For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive
many."   (Matt 24:4-5 NKJ)

There is a dilemna in Jesus's words.  If someone were to get in a pulpit
today and claim to be Christ, I suppose a few gullible souls would believe
it.  But face it: The vast majority of folks would either get a good
laugh out of it or turn away in disgust.

So how could Jesus say that many would be deceived by a charlatan such as
this? In fact, we're told later in Matthew 24 (verse 24) that the deception
in the end time would be so great that if it were possible, even the elect
would be deceived.

Now I know that false Christs and false prophets will do signs and wonders,
and surely that is fodder for deception, but I think the warning goes deeper
than that.  The answer can be found by looking at the original Greek
in a different way.

Jesus said that many would claim to be "the Christ".  The article "the"
is in the Greek.  The sentence could just as easily be translated as
"I am the Messiah".  And a more literal translation would go like
this:  "Many will come in my name saying, 'I am the anointed one.'"

Ever hear anyone claim to be God's annointed?  If you do, run home,
lock your doors, and keep your hand on your billfold, because that person
is literally fulfilling this prophecy, and I can guarantee you that it is
not the prophecy that he thinks he is fulfilling.

And yes, in this way even the very elect can be deceived.

The message repeated over and over in the Epistle to the Hebrews is that
Jesus Christ is our High Priest, and that he became like us so that he might
be merciful and faithful.  We can now go boldly and directly to the
throne of grace without needing a human mediator.

Paul tells us in I Timothy 2 that the only mediator between God and man is
Jesus Christ.  No man other than Jesus can do that job.  Anyone
who tries to place himself in that position is committing blasphemy.

Strong words, I know.  But that's what Jesus said.

BSE Case

A new U.S. Department of Agriculture rule requires meat-processors to use
synthetic casings or pork casings on many sausages that have, traditionally,
used natural beef casings. There also has been a decision made that casings
made from the small intestine of all beef animals slaughtered on or after
January 12 cannot be used for human consumption. The legislation was enacted
to curb the alleged spread of mad cow disease. Keep reading those labels.
In the last month only 1 case of BSE was found in the US and the victim arrived
from England to this country.

PETA Ad Nixed

CBS-TV has refused to play a certain tv commercial created by the People
for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. The commercial is suggestive and immoral.
Two very scantilly-clad women have a playful pillowfight just before the
doorbell rings. Its the pizza guy from "Big Meat" pizza who brags about "extra
sausage." The three go down behind the couch only to find the pizzaman "can't
deliver" to fulfill their lustful desires. The allusion is that meat consumption
caused the man to be impotent. The next scene has the two floozies coming
in with a vegetarian man, identified by the veg-slogan on his t-shirt, carrying
a grocery sack that declares"We know good mellons." The three disappear behind
the couch in an extremely strong suggestion of fornication. PETA reputedly
offered CBS $2 million to have the commercial aired during the Super Bowl
broadcast. CBS spokesman Dana McClintock told reporters that the network
rejected the ad because of its "general policy against airing advocacy
advertisements" rather than because of the sinful innuendos. PETA has disputed
the denial and may be seeking legal counsel. Maybe they should change their
name to Perverts against Ethical Television Ads.

Romans 1:22-25 Professing themselves to be wise, they
became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image
made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping
things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts
of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who
changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature
more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

Man Smashes Idols

Rogelio Rodriguez walked into San Fernando Cathedral and told the people
that he was trying to save them from being idol-worrshippers. He then began
smashing church idols. Six of seven damaged statues dated back to the early
1900s and repairs costs could be substantial. A parishioner waved down a
police officer who apprehended Rodriguez and booked him. Bond on a charge
of felony criminal mischief was set at $100,000 for the 38 yr-old Rodriguez.
Deacon Pat Rodgers, spokesman for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Antonio,
told reporters, "He was yelling about saving people here from idol worship,
and then he went on a rampage knocking statues over." The police report alledges
that Rodriguez called himself both God and "Emmanuel, the Prince of Peace"
during the vandalism spree. A woman called the church and said she was Rodriguez'
wife. The woman said her husband had mental problems that required medication
but "did not have the medication that he needed."

The bible has numerous verses that warn about idols and command their destruction
albeit in a certain contextual setting. The instruction to destroy idols
was for Israelites when God brought them in to dispossess the pagan inhabitants
of a land. For example: Exodus 23:24 Thou shalt not
bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their works: but thou
shalt utterly overthrow them, and quite break down their images.

The apostle Paul did not brake the statues at Mars Hill but preached Jesus
to them that they might repent of their idolatry. This method seems to work
as the idol makers testified in Acts 19:26 Moreover
ye see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia,
this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they
be no gods, which are made with hands:

2 Timothy 2:24-26 And the servant of the Lord must
not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness
instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give
them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover
themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at
his will.

The bible will convict those whom God grants repentence by its many verse
rejecting idols such as:

Deuteronomy 4:15-19 Take ye therefore good heed unto
yourselves; for ye saw no manner of similitude on the day that the LORD spake
unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire: Lest ye corrupt yourselves,
and make you a graven image, the similitude of any figure, the likeness of
male or female, The likeness of any beast that is on the earth, the likeness
of any winged fowl that flieth in the air, The likeness of any thing that
creepeth on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the waters beneath
the earth: And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest
the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest
be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath divided
unto all nations under the whole heaven.

Exodus 20:4-6 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven
image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in
the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not
bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous
God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third
and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands
of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

1 John 5:21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols.
Amen.

The statues in Catholic churches are indeed idols and should be rejected.
Although idols are forbidden by God, the actions of this man are not sanctioned
by the bible but are criminal. 1 Peter 4:14-15 If ye
be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory
and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your
part he is glorified. But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief,
or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters.

In this case, we pray that some in attendance heard the man's words, forgive
his violent outburst, and will look into idol worship from their bible and
repent of their idolatry. We are to follow peace with all men until our Savior
reappears to rule with a rod of iron. The idols are nothing and will be soon
be no more. Love God, love thy neighbor - against such there is no law.
