The Anguilla flag in feast of colours on a global theme

CARNIVALS around the world inspired youngsters at Sandown CE Primary School to hold their own parade.

The school's first carnival, called the Carnival of Colour, was so successful it will return next year.
Around 300 children took part, dressed in costumes they made with help from parents and themed on carnivals in different countries.
Nursery children drew inspiration from Britain and dressed in blue and white and the reception class dressed in orange and white, based on the flag of Anguilla in the Caribbean.
Year 1 pupils had green and white costumes based on Italian national colours and Year 2 were in black and white, inspired by Germany.
The Year 3 class wore white and yellow, taken from the flag of Brazil and Year 4's effort, inspired by Trinidad and Tobago, featured red and white costumes.
Some children also performed a flag-waving display and there was a samba band.
"It was a fantastic. We had an arts week leading up to Friday, when the children made costumes and decorated the school.
"We thought this would be a good way to get everyone involved and it went really well. We'll be doing it again next year," said art co-ordinator Jane Booth.
