Fun Fun Fun

I was thinking this message board doesn't have enough mindless competition for no reward. So I thought I would fill that void. Cryptic statements always seem to be the most fun message board games, so here is the first one, it's in code and whoever gets it right (and it should be fairly obvious who gets it right) makes up the next coded message. Then we can keep a score board on who's winning. The first one will be fairly easy.

36 16-12-18-44 38-24-22-44 14-38-36-16 40-52-28-44 36-16 52 38-36-14!

Re: Fun Fun Fun

I sure hope this game is a hit!

I'll need time to come up with another message

Re: Fun Fun Fun

I dont know how to do these??

Re: Fun Fun Fun

That last code was the numbers of the letters multiplyed by 2, then reversed. for instance, usually A would be 1. But multiplied by 2, it is two. But flip the numbers around and it's 52.

Here is a code. I am unsure if it will be difficult for you or not. Remember: The English language has only 2 stand alone letters; I and A.

Re: Fun Fun Fun

Man that one is hard Amber. Do all of the letters have unified way of decyphering them? Or is it a weird code with no rhyme or reason?

Re: Fun Fun Fun

you guys are white and nerdy I dont understand how to do these stupid games

Re: Fun Fun Fun

Amber didn't explain the solution to Jon's code correctly.

26 letters in alphabet numbered 1(A) to 26(Z).

In Jon's code...

52/2 = 26 which normally would be Z but Jon used the reverse making it A.

A=26(x2=52); b=25(x2=50); c=24(x2=48)

Everywhere you find the number 52 in the code substitute in the letter A, and so on.

Amber has created a similar substitution puzzle of some sort (similar but different).

Use her hints that only A and I can be words on their own and also your knowledge of common 2-letter words (like on, in, an, it...) and 3-letter words (the, and, ...) to figure out what the numbers spell out.

"In any other family I would be a genius, here in ours I feel like a dnuce."

BTW...you have to solve Amber's puzzle before it's your turn!

Re: Fun Fun Fun

how did you fiqure that out mom?

Re: Fun Fun Fun

Gah. I did Jon's code right, but after I read mom's post I realized that my explanation was poor.

A hint to my code: I didn't just substitute. There is more than one thing that you must do to the message. Also, look at the words themselves. Do you see any similarities?

Re: Fun Fun Fun

Vicki gave it away with the period at the beginning - It's written backwards.

Re: Fun Fun Fun

I believe that William let "O" stand alone as well.

I just started working on Ambers post.

Though this be madness, yet there is method in 't

Re: Fun Fun Fun

that cant be right cause in amber code the M is standing by itself.

Re: Fun Fun Fun

or was that just a quote you wrote down daddy

Re: Fun Fun Fun

Just a Quote

I'm working on Amber's code and it's driving me nuts.

Re: Fun Fun Fun

"I wasted time and now time doth waste me."

You used a combination of scrambling each individual word and than a simple substitution cypher

If that is it, (and i'm fairly sure I am considering how appropriate this quote is.) then this is the next Cypher

srosereadrelestiovreaebulgrasusiwseteosraeuoy

And here's a little clue to help you out:

Re: Fun Fun Fun

Roses are red violets are blue sugar is sweet so are you

Numbers are word length.

Then unscramble the words.

I need another Amber Puzzle.

Re: Fun Fun Fun

Another Puzzle.

Much more reasonable than Ambers.( I lost more Hair )

It is as follows:

Re: Fun Fun Fun

i will have to think of one give me a little bit

Re: Fun Fun Fun

to solve you go back one letter in the first bunch then times by two each time... 1*2=2 2*2=4 and that is how you know which letter it is.

I find myself a puzzled out puzzling puzzler.

You might be puzzled puzzling the puzzled out puzzler too.

If so, you will remain puzzled until the puzzler posts a puzzle to puzzle and help you with your puzzling Puzzlement.

Hint...quote about wisdom. Cypher is a type of Caesar cypher that uses an affine (linear) transformation.
Good luck!

Re: Fun Fun Fun

Too hard? Here's how this cypher works....
Number alphabet from 0-25 and use this formula. Words have been broken into even groups (of 5 in this case).
x = uncoded number
y = coded number
a = multiplier
b = constant

y=a*x+b
