Dear Chorus,
We are making tremendous strides in our singing, and I commend you for your hard work and dedication! This Thursday we will sit in yet a different order. (Some say this is Handel's seating for Messiah!) As you enter, Sopranos on the far right, Tenors to the right on the aisle, but at least 3 across and likely only in the front half of the room, altos on the aisle to the left, and basses on the far left, but also at least 3 -5 across. In reality the sopranos and altos will each fill in behind the basses and tenors. Please continue with the S1, A1, T1, B1 further forward and the 2nds sitting right behind them. There should be no gap between the firsts and seconds, however.
Your preparation in advance of the rehearsal is paramount to our success. Please prepare this music for Thursday:
Honegger No.16 all the way to the Alleluias. No. 17 and No.19 (Anyone missing Nov 2 must also learn NO's 3-4 and 11)
Handel: No.28 (He Trusted), No.54 (Amen), No.35 (Let all the angels), No 37 (The Lord gave the word), No.39 (Their Sound). We hope to also do No.44 (Hallelujah).
We will work efficiently, and conclude once more with Rossini from 8:50-9:30. This is sounding marvelous!
Once more, I commend your hard work. For us to have 'gotten in' the Honegger and the Rossini in addition to Messiah, and all before the month of December, is cause for celebration! Remember that Saturday November 18 is our French coaching- we will sing as much of Honegger as we have prepared, and get the language right! I cannot impress enough how important that rehearsal is, and ask you to make every effort to be there.
Have a great week!
