Sherwood Tavern Clarence Road Bristol

A most excellent website which I make a lot of use of. He is a missed one I spotted because of family research and the story within the family that GGF owned a pub in The Cut.

My great grandfather Frederick Henry William Pidgeon was briefly landlord of the Sherwood Tavern Clarence Road Bristol. He is listed as such in the 1915 Bristol Kelly's directory under his name, but has been omitted from the section of Public Houses or Beer retailers, probably as a compilation error. His tenure corresponded with the introduction of strict licencing law concerning pubs near to docks and ammunition factories. He drank the profits and went broke.

Thanks for this John, I will get your great grandfather listed as soon as I can.

Kevin.
