pressing charges for child abuse in later life

I am 40 years old. I was sexually abused as a child from the age of seven to 11.
I am seriously considering pressing charges against the perpetrator .He was convicted years ago and received 2 years in prison for another girl who he abused at same time as me,but i was the first to come forward and at the time there was insufficient evidence to press charges because there was only me,and the girl involved who was his stepdaughter and at the time she refused to admit to the offence caused.I was taken away from the situation and have learnt since she had a breakdown at age 14 and the truth came out.The perpetrator received 2 years for the offences against her.Is there any law that allows me to bring charges now after all these years. Especially since the girl involved in the abuse with me pressed charges and won.

Re: pressing charges for child abuse in later life

I am so sorry to hear about the abuse you suffered at the hands of this monster. But to often in this world there is no real justice for people like us. So we must go on and make sure that we can protect those that are intrusted to our care, so the same thing doesn't happen to them.

I would seek legal advice if I were you, becxause you never know. Ring and speak to legal aid they are very helpful and will put you in touch with the right people.

I would also like to say you were very brave to come foward as you did. Please don't think you wasted your time. All it takes for evil to triump, is for a good man to do nothing.

Cheers, WhatsThat
