Child abuse question

Hello- My name is Beth Bradley and I was molested by my mothers boyfriend when I was about eight years old. I am currently 25 and have blocked out a fair amount of my memories of these events.

The first time I remembered an inappropriate event I was fifteen and I told my sisters. They told my mom and everyone felt terribly but we didn't do anything about it. By this time (1995) this man had since moved to another state and we just let things be.

Now that I am more mature and angry about what happened, I worry about children that are exposed to this man.

When I was twenty, I talked to a therapist about problems I was having with Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome as a result of the sexual abuse I went through. The Psychiatrist notified Social Services in the town where he was living at the time but that was as far as we went.

I was going to criminally persue this man in 2002 when I was 22 but financially things went wrong, and I never was able to follow through.

I am writing in an attempt to see what I might be able to do in order for prevent this man from causing anymore pain to other little girls. I feel a bit hopeless b/c I am not sure of the law but I would guess that too much time has gone by for me to take him to court.

The original offense occured in Maryland around 1989-1990. I now live in North Carolina with my mother and the man who abused me lives in PA I beleive. Do you have any information that could help me in my efforts to keep this man from commiting the same offense on anymore children? I would really appreciate any input. Thank You.

Re: Child abuse question

As your problem is limited to the United States you should consult an American Lawyer. We do not have links with any such lawyers, but they appear in many articles in the United States about abuse. Best of luck whatever you do.
