Robot Project Forum

For help with robot project ONLY. (I've forgotton (read:- erased from memory) more than what I know about the other assignments!) . You may also want to consider posting your question on one of the following newsgroup forums (go to Google, then click groups) : sci.electronics.basics, sci.electronics.design or comp.robotics.misc

Message:   Alright Ashish,
You don't want to do things by half do you!

I really wouldn't know where to start with something as complex as you are suggesting - I assume from "we have to use..." that this is a team effort which should make life easier. If it isn't, consider possibly something a bit simpler, please don't take offence, I'm writing this for everyone who happens to read this board, but I saw a similar thing happen in our final year. People would say "Yeah, I'm going to build a " (insert ridicuosly complex piece of electronic equipment)" for my project" and then four months in they would realise they had bitten off more than they could chew, but had gone beyond the point of no return. Basically what I'm saying is if you are 100% sure you can do it, go for it, if not, try a simpler design.
A quick note: my tutor didn't appear keen on me doing this project as other people had tried and failed, but I KNEW I could do it, so don't be put off if you are certain. Only you know your limits.

Right enough preaching!

If it was me, the first place I would ask this question would be on one of the electronic or robotic newsgroups; sci.electronics.* (probably sci.electronics.design) or you could try comp.robotics.misc, the electronics groups tend to be a pretty good bunch of people - if they can't help you out then they may be able to point you in the right direction if you ask them.

Be warned, the thread may get into a debate about how electronic circuits can never be truely random though!;-)

Sorry I can't be of more help than that.

Sounds like a great project! Hope it goes well.
Rob.
