Recently I was beading some lampwork earrings, which the beads were made on a large mandrels leaving them somewhat unsteady on head pins - my "ahh haa" was discovered when I stuffed the hole of the bead on the headpin with a plastic earring backing (that you would use on fish-hook style earrings) - this made the bead steady, and it didn't show at all!
