hey guys, im from australia, have a bit of a soft stomach when it comes to food, and have heard some horrible stories of food posioning in thailand. just wondering are there alot of healthy places for westerners to eat and is there a chance i will get sick? has any one here got food poisoning whilst in thailand? im coming for a month and am worried ill get food poisoning and not be able to train.

any feedback is welcome, i know its an uneducated opinion since ive never been there so thats why id like to know

Thai food is fairly clean not to many spices if you dont want, plenty rice and simple chicken dishes you can get some very basic Thai meals that would suit any ones taste buds...

In the remote regions of Thailand they often dont have refrigerators & the heigne standards of the kitchen are not up to western standards... but here at Phuket its the tourists Mekka .. We have KFC, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Steak Houes, Sizzler, cheap Ass, Dons all u can eat Saturday Buffet ...

No worries finding Auzzie style food here

Re: eating in thailand?

There is always a small chance you may get food poisoning or a stomach bug from the food... no more greater than eating at a local restaurant in Australia.

Tis good to be prepared though, goto your local doctor and pick up some medication for diarrhea / or stomach bug problems before you make the trip, shall give you peace of mind.

As said, plenty of western food available but you'll be missing out on an experience if you don't try the local food, Hands down better than the western food available.

Fresh Fruit from the markets is highly recommended too, Pineapples are awesome.

Re: eating in thailand?

Its a joke Ausomite,right?

It has nothing to do with a bloody map

You either follow an eastern tradition (ASIAN and the like) or you follow a Western Tradition (England, USA Australia.) Western Foods is the stuff we.... actually.. Dont worry..
