Newbie
Hi everyone. Would you recommend a months training to a 30yr old, out of shape person like myself who has only thrown a punch in anger half a dozen times in his life. I am looking for a getaway from my crap lifestyle here on the gold coast to make a positive change to myself. Thanks in advance for any feedback. |

Hello Newbee ... one month will go very quickly in Thailand & having to return to you old life style again after one month will only make you feel depressesed ... if you can spare the time then come here for 3 - 6 months ... 3 months in Thailand you can achieve so much more The Thai Embassy in brisbane give 6 - 12 month Thailand visa's easy.. read our FAQ page for more details about 6 - 12 month Visas.

Thanks for the comments, 1 month is really the max amount of time i can get away from everything, I really want to just have a unique experience and kickstart my fitness back to what it was a few years ago. Anyone else here in my situation? |

James, Danny is right it would be better if you could stay much longer, i am currently here and have been for 3 weeks now and have 2 weeks left. My biggest regret is not being able to stay for much longer. That said if 1 month is all you can go for then my advice is just do it, you will meet some really great people and experience a great way to train. As a 36 year old with the same fitness problems as yourself i can speak from experience, but i have noticed in the last 3 weeks that my fitness level has got much better and each day i strive to do a little more. Here is some advice for what it is worth, Do some exercise prior to arriving, this does not have to be a large amount but if you can get some jogging or bike work done this will help you in the first week, otherwise you may miss some training sessions due to muscles that have not worked for a while feeling sore. I hope this helps a little and that you arrive at the camp soon. |

James, I understand that u can only have a month. One month is better than nothing. One month at in Rawai has changed my outlook on alot of things in life. Not onlky have a found a great gym in oz with great people since learning Muay thai, from a spiritual stand point, just spending a month by yourself to re adjust your thinking is great. If you could try and take more than a month i would try if i was you. You could pick up a few fights and live off the money u make from fighting, the gym would look after you in your fights as well, they wont put up up aagainst a seasoned pro. Its worth a consideration mate. If you are on the gold coast and can only make 1 month in Thailand work for you, then when u get back you need to surround yourself with good people and activities. Boonchu gym is in broadbeach and Angie and Wayne (gym owners)are the nicest people you could ever meet in your life and their students are nice people. If you got into a Muay Thai/Martial Arts lifestyle your life will change for the better. Im living proof mate. |

Thanks heaps for all the positive feedback, it sounds like there is a really nice atmosphere over there to train in. I'm currently trying to rope a mate into coming with me too so might see you in June if it all comes together. |
