when fighting?

hey guys, ive been looking at other camps websites and alot of them say a month straight of training is when they allow their students to fight, just wondering does your camp have any difinitive answer to how long u like ppl to train for? i have 4 amateur boxing fights, 4 wins and by the time im wwith u guys i will have had 4 months of pretty intense training muay thai training with a hall of fame fighter over here in australia. would love to have 2 fights in the month im there but would love to hear what u guys think?

Re: when fighting?

Hi Muz

At rawai they judge you from what they see when you hit pads - stuff like technique, as well as stamina and general fitness. How hard you are training is also an important factor.

From the sounds of things, by the time you arrive in thailand you will be in pretty good shape and you have fight experience, if they see you are ready to fight, they can get you a fight no problem, no need to train for a month. That being said, it takes a little while to get used to a climate and training routines, therefore i wouldnt recomend fighting untill at least 2 weeks of training have passed.

Whether you can fight again depends on whether or not you sustain any injuries, sore shins being a big one for first fights!

Hope that helps

Re: when fighting?

awesome buddy! That sounds great. I train in Sydney at Double Dragon under Mick Spinks. I hav put the gloves down for 3 months to work on fitness and weight loss and when i put the gloves back on i will have 3 months before i arrive so i cant wait. As im bringing my wife and two young children i cant train all the time and could only make morning session so hopefull i can fight and prove that im commited although its only a morning session.
