Few Questions

Right.. so I've never been out of Canada, anyone able to give me a list of things that I must complete before the final step, buying the plane ticket..

First off I need my Passport, is it true that it must be active for at least 6 months before I can fly over?

Medical Insurance, Get my shots(malaria and whatever else), anyone able to give me list? I'm pretty sure there is more.. I'd like to do this right.

Don't wanna seem like a prick, but has anyone been to Sinbi Muay Thai and Rawai Muay Thai, maybe give me a comparison? What I like about Rawai is the information listed, forum activity, seems familyish. And for Sinbi, the website, it's a fairly new gym, 1 year old. Probably going about this wrong..

How busy are you guys from Nov-Feb?

Thanks for your help, sorry for comparing, but as I said, I wanna do it right.

Re: Few Questions

Vaccinations required @ Phuket Thailand

List of things to do ...

(1) Get a passport
(2) Book your flights to Phuket
(3) Organize travel insurance
(4) e-mail Danny @ Rawai MT for bungalow reservation
(5) Finish reading the FAQ page
(6) Buy Danny a nice present
(7) Start working on your pre arrival fitness

Sinbi gym is a nice gym.. much the same style of training than @ Rawai Muaythai Camp ...
but @ Rawai Muaythai we have a MUCH better web site

(Q) How busy are you guys from Nov-Feb?

(A) We are always buzy @ Rawai Muaythai Camp, even in the quiet season

Re: Few Questions

SInbi is nice and looks very relaxed but the reason why i chose RMT over SINBI is you are more isolated at SINBI and there is a better atmosphere at RMT. The area SINBI is in has been known to be a little dangerous as its very quiet and dark there at night.

RMT ALL THE WAY!

Re: Few Questions

howdy mate
its not true about the passport thing
get it then fly. im canadian
i suggest getting insurance its only a dollar a day with blue cross, and there are the slight chance you might get hurt on a motorbike, hikking ect..
and the last thing you need is a huge ass bill
there are no shots for malaria you take a pill, but i think its not to high down there
get your other shots, hep abc.

rmt seemed to have a better atomsphere, when i was there, there was always at least 7-10 of us hanging out doing things in the gym
the simbi guys when i saw them seemed more isolated from each other

Re: Few Questions

on the passport thing. I think u got a little confised..
U need to have atleast 6 months of validity left on your passport when you enter Thailand (like most countries). If you travel with less than 6 months still on your passport then you may have issues entering other countries.
When i arrive in Sep I will only have 2 months left on my passport so I will apply for a new one b4 i arrive.

Re: Few Questions

Thanks for the responces folks, glad to get that all sorted out. Just out of curiosity would it be wise to do a detox, and once it's done start training? I've never had one and I'm 21. Plus why is it so costly? Think it's like 600CAD, what's included?

Re: Few Questions

I didnt do it but my friends did. It is costly. All it does is clean you from the insides out.
My friends were dissapointed that they started to put the weight back on once the detox had finished and the stopped eating a rabbit diet. SO if you want to clean your inside out then do it but dont do it for weight loss..
our body makes the stuff that cleans out our body, we really dont need a foreign object to do it for us. More for Hollywood if you ask me.

Ah decisions... Maybe I'll just do it here.

What are the best stretches to increase flexibility of the higher forms of kicks? My flex is very poor. =(

Re: Few Questions

GET YOUR PASSPORT RENEWED!!

Youre taking a big chance, you could get all the way to Bangkok and then be refused entry, they could also stop you when you go to check in.
I had the same problem and was told it was international flying law and that i would not be allowed to board the flight.
There is a chance they might not notice but if they do then your be refused.
Get your passport renewed!!
