My Fischers babies are 10 and 7 days old. I tried to put a leg band on the oldest chick but it fell right off. What is the best age to band the babies?

Hi Brian,
I normally ring the chicks between one and two weeks with a size 8. It is a good idea to keep an eye on it though because as you've found the rings do come off. Alternativly if you leave it to long so the chicks leg is bigger, you run the risk of not being able to get it on and you certainly don't want to be forcing it. Brian are you still looking for rings?

I tried it again this morning and it stayed on. I'll check it again tonight and for the next couple of days to make sure it stays on. The parents do not have bands so I hope they wont try to remove the babies bands.
I should have enough band to last me all of '08.
