PROMOTION TIPS CONTINUED
LINDA LATTIMER
I would have to say, by having a website it is able to promote books, articles, any news events that can get the promotion out there for others to see.
It is always good to have markers, little sheets with books and upcoming books printed on it, even pens, stationary and little things that can be used with your promotional works and those coming soon. It spreads the word to have any little thing that will catch the reader’s eye.
If asked to do a book signing or even speaking at a school, go for it and be sure to tell everyone about your book and those that might share the spotlight with you. Remember the publisher and editor are our best friends that helped to get us there, never forget them in your speaking and if possible, email anyone and everyone and tell them about your works, even libraries and anyone that deals with books.

I love hosting contests on my website. I usually give away one of my books to the winner.
Another tip I found that is helpful is a newsletter. I’ve started sending out newsletters whenever I have a new book released.
And another tip I found helpful is the slide show, which shows the author’s book covers and titles along with the publishers. It’s free and easy to use. http://www.slide.com

Grab local attention by letting your area newspapers know there’s an author in their midst. Check to see if they will do an interview with you, or if you can submit an article about yourself and your book.
You should also have a website, but don’t stop there. Promote the website with banner exchanges or even banner advertising. It does pay off to spend a little money on your own ads.
If you can find websites or email loops that allow excerpts to be posted, post your sneak peeks. You can also do interviews at some of the major romance sites like Fallen Angel Review, The Romance Studio and Romance Junkies.

Blog about your release anywhere you can - On your personal website, blog and Myspace.
If you are part of a writing group as others if they will blog for you or if you can do a reciprocal "guest" appearance on their site or blog. We do this with one of my groups and it works well to get the word out.
Hold contests on your site to draw visitors. Keep it interesting to keep readers wanting to come back and check for new things from you.

It's wonderful to be involved in a Writer’s group. They like to follow your writing and are eager to know when and what mss will be released and how to get it.
I write a Christmas letter every year about our family, perhaps you do too. It’s a great time to mention what’s going on in the writing corner of your world.
The more people who know you write, the more people may be interested to see, What does she write and is it any good?
